Thermodynamics deals with the study of energy and work and their interrelation in a system. Thermodynamics is associated with the large-scale behavior of a system which can be observed and measured in experiments.
There are three fundamental laws that govern the changes in a physical system. Each law explains the properties of the system and helps to predict the probable behavior and facilitates the alteration of PVT parameters to bring about desired changes and results. To understand a thermodynamic system, a system defining microscopic properties should be considered that are dependent on the Pressures, Temperatures, and internal energy of the system.
Zeroth law of thermodynamics deals with the thermal equilibrium of two bodies in contact. Whereas, the first law governs the inter conversion of different forms of energy. The second law deals with the idea of entropy. It states that the change in entropy in this world is always positive.
Thermodynamics lay the basis for the working of heat engines, power plants, refrigeration cycles in cooling equipment, and many more essential applications in today’s world.
