TELELAB Continuing Education System

The TELELAB is a type of a continuing education program that allows medical professionals to get distance medical learning. In other words, it is a distance learning system that gives training to professionals involved in the diagnosis of different infections. History of the TELELAB:

The AIDS rampant in the year 1997 pushed Brazil into feeling the need to offer training to professionals involved in the infection’s diagnosis. Courses Offered by the TELELAB:

The TELELAB offers a total of 16 courses that can be taken by health professionals from all around the world. The duration of each of these courses varies between 15 to 30 hours. One course might be of 15 hours while the other one might be of 20 or 30 hours. It depends on the topic of the course and the amount of information needed to explain the particular topic. TR Quality Assessment:

This course is divided into two modules. In module 1, an overview of the program is explained like the objectives, registration, sending, receiving, conservation and storage of the AEQ-TR panel. Biosafety:

HIV Diagnosis:

Diagnosis of Syphilis:

This course gives guidance regarding the preparation of the antigenic suspension for the VDRL reaction. With that, different strategies for validating and interpreting results have also been Chagas disease.

Chagas Disease:

This course aims to address the different issues related to the preparation for carrying out the Chagas Disease diagnosis method or infection by Trypanossoma cruzi.

Sickle Cell disease:

This course will help students to gain enough information about sickle cell disease like how it spread around the world etc. The course will also help to establish subsidies to improve the care that is provided to the people who have this disease.

Equipment:

In this course, different procedures for use of conservation of routinely used equipment will be addressed. Other things like the monitoring of thermos-controllable equipment and different ways of using, conserving and controlling pipetting are also discussed.

Neisseria Gonorrhoeae:

In this course, the diagnosis of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae and details regarding the preparation of the culture media used is discussed. With that, different conditions for transport and conservation of biological samples is also discussed.

The Comprehensive Care of PLHIV:

This course has information regarding the implementation of the new model regarding the PLHIV. It provides different guidelines that can be applied by professionals in the construction of an articulated network for comprehensive care of PLHIV.

Gram Staining Techniques:

This gram staining method course has every detail in it regarding the issues related to preparations carrying out in a laboratory environment. With that, the identification and proper use of equipment and procedures have also been explained.

IST-Care in the Execution of RT:

The aim of this course is to prevent all the main errors that are caused in the execution of the rapid tests. By providing enough instructions and methodologies for carrying out the process, the errors can be minimized.

TR Oral Fluid-DPP for NGOs:

This course has video and manual for training members of the non-governmental organizations, NGOs, partners of the Department of STD, AIDS and Viral Hepatitis-DDAHV in the Viva Melhor Sabendo project.

Tuberculosis:

This course has information regarding the procedures necessary for the laboratory result that results from sputum smearing and staining using the Ziehl Neelsen Method.

Certification:

While all the 16 courses are free to take and can be taken by any health professional. There is this one facility as well that TELEPAD offers, it’s the free certification of a course.
