Overview of Agile Project Management

An Agile Project Management is a methodology that is mostly used in business organizations where it is necessary to deliver complex projects due to their adaptiveness. With the help of Agile project management methodology, organizations are able to work under such circumstances that are based on collaboration, flexibility, continuous improvement and demanding high quality results.

The Agile methods used are designed in such a manner that will for sure lead to better performance of an organization. Precisely, we can say that the APM solely focuses on delivering excellent results and performance of the given project and also within the given budget and time period. What the APM actually does is divide the project into smaller fragments and agile teams chooses their tasks instead of assigning the tasks. All players perform their best to do what they have chosen as a team. This leads to better results when each person in the team is aware of what the team targets are and when they have to complete it.

5 Agile Project Management model phases:

The Agile Project Management process consists of five phases and each phase has its own purpose, function and result that leads to the completion of the project. The person or force behind this five Agile Project Management phases is Jim Highsmith.

So here are the five phases:

Envision

This first phase can be called as the starting point where everything starts. The purpose of this phase is to help create a vision for the project. And it must be noted here that the vision that we make has to be according to the needs and demands of the customer as well and not only just the team itself. As we have to abide by the requirements of the customer so we have to make sure that our vision focuses fully on the product and its completion according to our customer’s demand.

Speculate

In the speculation phase, the team is required to give their ideas, obtain preliminary broad requirements of the product, make a feasibility report of it, start calculating risks, determine the amount of workload, make an estimate of the product cost, how much time is it going to take to complete the project and other things are decided in this phase.

Explore

The explore phase is further divided into three steps:

Step one: In the first step, we have to manage the workload and risk mitigation strategies to deliver the product features.

Step two: In the second step, we have to create a community that will share responsibilities and is self-organizing.

Step three: In the last step of the third phase, we have to make a schedule so that everyone knows their task and duties such as how to interact with other parties like customers, stakeholders and project managers.

Adapt

In the fourth phase, the team becomes open to any changes or modifications in the product lifecycle that could lead to better performance. The purpose of the phase four is to continuously go back to phases one, two and three so as to look for better ways or suggestions.

So there has to be a closing date of the project so that everyone knows the time in which they are bound to complete their tasks. After completing the project from your end, you have to pass it to the next team so that they can start doing the work that they are assigned.

Conclusion:

Using Agile Project Management practices in organizations have without any doubt claimed better completion rates and customer satisfaction. Other practices that Agile Project Management offers help an organization to work under controlled environment thereby leading them to work more meticulously and produce better results within the given time.
